Carl Coffman
The Coffman Family Endowment
Carl Coffman sees community colleges fulfilling a great social need. Community colleges provide education and training at low cost for those who can’t afford or aren’t ready for a 4 year institution and a second chance for those being retrained midway through their career life. They serve a broad and diverse population, from high school students to displaced workers to individuals seeking to increase their education and skills.
Carl’s grandfather, who owned a lumber mill, stressed the importance of education, reminding his family that an education is something that can never be taken away. Carl is a strong advocate for providing opportunity for people working on the local level.
This endowment will fund student scholarships with preference being given to anyone who has worked at Coffman Excavation or Earthworks Oregon.
