Cornelius Family Endowment
The Cornelius Endowment recognizes a long history of service to the community and involvement with Clackamas Community College. Gary Cornelius received his Associate degree from Clackamas in 1975 and served as editor of the student newspaper. He ultimately completed his Bachelors degree at Marylhurst and also served as a member of the Clackamas Community College Board of Education for four years, including a year as president. Tragedy struck the Cornelius family in 1996 with the death of Gary’s brother, Jackson, the victim of a hit and run accident in Vermont.
With a firm belief in the community college mission, and to honor Jackson’s life and spirit, the Cornelius Endowment was created to support students pursuing their education with the dream of careers focused in helping professions.
