Evelyn Collins Memorial Endowment

The Evelyn Collins Memorial Endowment

For nearly five decades, Evelyn Collins changed lives in NE Portland, providing daycare, encouragement, nurturing, recreation, and social and spiritual guidance to African-American families. Evelyn and her mother, Grace, moved to Portland in 1940.

Evelyn subsequently attended college and pursued a career in ministry. Founding the Christian Community Center in 1954, Evelyn is remembered for her “open door” friendship and generosity.

The “Evelyn Collins Endowment” was established by Evelyn’s friends and family to recognize her legacy of social service. The endowment will provide scholarship support to Clackamas Community College students pursuing an education in early childhood education.
