Roger Rook Endowment

Roger Rook Endowment

Roger Rook dedicated decades of boundless energy and intellect to two loves – education and the law. In the 1960s, he used his law degree to further the Civil Rights Movement, which in 1998 garnered him the highest honor given by the American Civil Liberties Union. Later, Roger served a 12-year term as Clackamas County District Attorney, and he literally wrote the book on law enforcement when he published “Handbook for Peace Officers.” Roger joined the Clackamas Community College Board of Directors in 1970, when the college was in its infancy, and his tenure to date is the longest in Oregon community college history. His contributions to higher education in general, and community colleges in particular, earned Roger the Howard Cherry Award in 1998 from the Oregon Community College Association.

The* Roger Rook Endowment* combines these two important areas of Roger’s life. The endowment, begun by Roger in 1998, provides scholarship support for criminal justice students at Clackamas Community College.

Impact

Once I’m finished with school, I plan to work as an addictions counselor, before becoming a probation officer in order to help people overcome their obstacles, just like people have helped me. ~Danna
